The proudest time of Douglas’s life was when he practiced law with his dad, Richard J. McGinity. Richard sadly passed away in 2016.

Richard J. McGinity established a 55-year law practice in the New Orleans area dedicated in General Business Practice and Litigation. After earning a Tulane Business Administration (BBA) degree in 1957, Richard graduated from Tulane University Law School in 1959.

Along with his general practice, Richard served for 21 years as the General Counsel of the Board of Commissioners of the Orleans Levee District, consisting of 350 employees and substantial real estate holdings, including an airport and several Mariners. As General Counsel, Richard was involved in advising the staff, the preparation, and the legal management of hundreds of contracts and real estate leases.

Prior to law school, Richard proudly served in the United States Navy Air Corp, which he was assigned to the Korean War, a squadron at the Naval Air Station on North Island, California, and later the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Richard J. McGinity received an Honorable Discharge in 1955.
